The hostel's location was perfect for our Easter getaway, especially as we were planning on exploring the nearby countryside. the old church-turned-hostel had a unique and atmospheric vibe, adding to the charm of our stay. the large kitchen and shared living space were a great bonus, perfect for relaxing after a long day of hiking. We also loved the fact that there was a dry room for our boots - it was such a relief to know that our footwear would be kept dry and ready for the next day's adventure.
One slight downside was that our room had a slanted roof window, which made the sound of the thunderstorm quite loud. It was a bit disruptive, but thankfully it didn't last too long.

Great value for money! The room was spacious and comfortable, with a lovely ensuite shower. The location was perfect for exploring the Dales and just a short drive to the Lake District. The staff, especially Denise, were welcoming and made me feel at home.
The food for breakfast could have been improved with a wider variety of options.

We recently stayed at a hostel in a converted church, which was a unique and interesting experience. the beds were comfortable and the facilities were of a good standard. the location was perfect for exploring the beautiful Westmorland Dales and there were plenty of walking trails nearby. the staff tried their best to provide a decent breakfast, despite being a bit disorganized.
The rooms were a bit shabby and small, and the beds were cramped and difficult to get in and out of. the lack of cleanliness in the toilets and the infrequent restocking of toilet roll was disappointing.

A unique and charming converted church hostel right in the town center, yet close to the beautiful Westmorland Dales. The owner Denise was incredibly friendly and hospitable, even accommodating our early check-in after a long day of hiking. The facilities had plenty of character and everything we needed. I would recommend this place to anyone, especially those looking for a one-of-a-kind experience. Plus, Denise's dog is absolutely lovely!
Strongly recommend this hotel.

The hostel was in a beautiful building and had a spacious common area and well-equipped kitchen. the girl's room had a toilet, which was convenient. the staff was kind and helpful.
The hostel lacked some basic amenities like toilet seats, flooring in the bathroom, and shower curtains. There were maintenance issues like hanging plug sockets that felt unsafe.

This hotel keeps its heritage alive and offers plenty of room for self-catering and socializing. The fully equipped kitchen allows guests to prepare their own meals, and there are also plenty of places to eat and drink nearby. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the basic amenities are fine for a hostel. The shared toilets and showers are clean and well-maintained, and breakfast, although a bit disorganized, is cooked to order with a lovely conversation with the hostel owner.
All was fine, no improvements needed.

Location was quiet and peaceful. We were able to check in hassle-free at any time, which was convenient. The character and charm of the building were interesting.
The room was stuffy and uncomfortable. The small, high windows made it difficult to get fresh air, and the bathroom light was too bright.

I had an amazing stay at this hostel. The hotel facilities were great, with a huge common room and a kitchen that had everything I needed. Additionally, the hostel’s cleanliness was exceptional. I also loved that this city's restaurants were within close proximity to the hostel. The location near the town centre was a major plus.
Everything was fantastic.
